Thank you for your interest in Matoaka Beach Cabins. Our cabins are located on the Chesapeake Bay front on the Cliffs of Calvert with 1/3 mile of private sandy beach. Matoaka is considered one of the most beautiful rustic places on the Chesapeake. We have 40 acres of woods and fields that make Matoaka a quite nature lovers paradise.

The swimming is safe for children because of the very gradual sloping sandy bottom. As a matter of fact Matoaka had been a children's camp until we converted it into a cottage colony for families.

The cabins are located facing the beach and rent for a week for 6 people and have a bathroom, hot shower, electric refrigerator, gas stoves, screened porches, 6 beds etc.

One half deposit is required to confirm weekly reservations.

We do not furnish linens, blankets, cooking or eating utensils in any of the cabins.

Sign in time is 3:00pm Sunday and sign out time is 11:00am Sunday.

If more than the limited number of six people are with you over night an extra charge for each person over the limit will be charged $25/per night.

We do not furnish extra beds over the limit of six. Your daily visitor over the limit of six will pay $6/day and $5/day for children under 12 years old.

Fishing and crabbing are generally excellent with rock fish, blue fish, spot, perch, flounder on the list. A fishing license is needed on the bay.

The beach sand is known world wide by scientists for its fossils from the Miocene epoch. The Miocene epoch is approximately 15 million years old and some of the material found is fossilized shark teeth, whale bone, crocodile teeth etc. Beach walking often produce interesting specimens.  You may explore and dig in the beach sand for fossils but digging in and climbing on the cliff is prohibited.

All weekend payments are required in full to confirm reservations.

Pets are not allowed at Matoaka Beach Cabins.

Each cabin has a picnic table or hibachi.

No life guard on duty. Swim at your own risk.

Very truly yours,

Larry & Connie Smith
